Air pollution is expected surpass the lack of sanitation and dirt water as the leading cause to premature death by 2050. Already, the concentrations of air pollution in many major cities exceed the safe levels established at the World Health Organization. The trend is expected to continue into 2050. The number premature deaths from air pollution will nearly double by that date, going up from approximately 1 million people today to almost 3.6million. These premature deaths are expected to be most prevalent in Asia, including India and China.

Despite dire predictions, there are some good news. These problems can be addressed with technology already in progress.
