Twilight Princess Game Review

Twilight Princess is the darkest, most serious and most serious Nintendo 3D Zelda game. It pushes graphical presentation on the Wii to the limits of. It's darker and more disturbing than The Wind Waker. There aren't any bug-eyed pigs nor effeminate Pirates.

Link is drawn to a parallel dimension known as Twilight Realm where he takes the form of Hylian wolf and Hylian wolf and Hylian wolf Hylian while being guided by Midna.

Gameplay

Twilight Princess is the thirteenth installment in The Legend of Zelda series. It was released in 2006 for the Nintendo GameCube system and Wii. The game was praised by critics with perfect scores in several publications, including 1UP CVG EGM and GamesRadar. It is regarded by many as one of the top games in the entire series, and it was the top-selling Zelda game on the PAL market.

Twilight princess features an artistic and naturalistic graphic style, like that of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, with a more sophisticated graphic engine. Twilight princess is the first game in the series that features a completely directional control scheme instead of a fixed viewpoint like the previous games. This change was made to accommodate the Wii console's touchscreen that is based on pointing. The GameCube version comes with a section at the back of the game with mirror-image maps for those who prefer a fixed view.

Link transforms into a wolf when he enters the Twilight Realm. He also encounters Midna, an enigmatic creature. She informs Link that the kingdom of Hyrule is now under the control of a group of shadow beasts led the evil sorcerer Zant. She also explains that she is the true ruler of Twili but was usurped by Zant and cursed to her current form.

A short cutscene shows the soldiers being killed by shadow creatures when Link and Midna reach Hyrule Castle. Link and Midna then escape from the castle by an entrance tunnel to enter the Twilight Realm.

In the Twilight Realm, Link can make use of his wolf form to move around more freely throughout the world. He can also make use of his senses to navigate the world. He can hear the ghosts of soldiers and animals in the distance. He can also whistle and pull grass from specific patches to summon an animal, such as an Hawk, Epona or other. Link can also howl near the patches to summon a similar animal.

Twilight Princess is no different from other Zelda titles in the sense that music plays an important role. Link can play an instrument that is musical like the flute or harp, to attract and call upon various animals. Link can also use his voice to command the wolf's appearance. He can also use his compass as a guide to help him navigate through the world.

Characters

The Legend of Zelda is full of unique and colorful characters that leave an impression that will last forever. From hands emerging from toilets to pirates traveling across vast oceans these unique and imaginative characters are the core of the game. Twilight Princess continues the tradition of previous games by introducing a variety of memorable characters.

In the course of the story, Link meets new NPCs who are not just intriguing, but also plausible. It's a major step towards the right direction that many of these NPCs actually play a role in the story, rather than just acting as victims. NPCs such as Rusl who explains that the forest is more dangerous now and kidnaps kids, or the Ordon villager who disguises himself as a wolf while the kidnappers are taking children all have unique personalities.

Other notable characters are Iza who manages the Boat Rental Caf in Lanayru Province and Iza's rapid ride, Louise Telma’s cat, who assists Wolf Link find a secret access point to the castle through her bar and sewer system, and Faron who's spirit helps guide Link to the Forest Temple in Eldin Province. The two team members defeat Diababa's Fused Shadow and obtains the first Tear of Light.

Midna, the princess of the Twilight Realm, is also one of the most intriguing characters in the game. She is able to switch between her wolf and human forms and has a piece of the Triforce of Wisdom. She accosts Link and shares with him her experiences in the twilight realm and how she defeated Zant, the King of Twilight.

Zant is the evil sorcerer who controls the Twilight Realm. He possesses the second half of the Triforce of Wisdom. He was removed to the Twilight Realm by the goddesses for encroaching on their land and enslaving the people. Midna dispels Zant's power, allowing him to change into his human form if needed.

Epona is an improved horse that can be ridden in both Wolf and Hylian forms. Link can whistle at certain areas of grass to call the animal (similar to Majora's Mask). Twilight Princess is the first game in the series where the player can name their horse.

Theme

Music is a crucial element of any Zelda title. It can make a game appear massive exciting, expansive, and captivating. Twilight Princess' soundtrack is criticised for being sporadic and inconsistent and doesn't convey certain emotions. Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and other games have captivating music that bloom at the perfect moment to give you a sense of grandness and eerie.

Toru Minegishi and Asuka Ohta were responsible for the sound design and music in Twilight Princess, with Koji Kondo as the composer in charge for the first time since Wind Waker. The soundtrack for Twilight Princess is a bold departure from the standard approach to the series, with a minimalist approach to the melody and arrangement. Most field and dungeon music begins with a single instrument creating a mystical and eerie atmosphere for the player. For instance, the eerie music of Midna's lament makes use of the piano to create an overwhelming emotion for the player.

The themes of dungeons are the most prominent examples of this trend towards minimalism, with many dungeons featuring a dreary and ominous atmosphere. This approach is most evident in the Twilight Realm theme, which features a soundscape that could be appropriate for the soundtrack of a David Lynch film. The unsettling and ominous nature of the track is enhanced by the absence of recognizable melodies and the traditional arrangement with dreary drones and bizarre patterns intertwining to create a dark, gloomy texture.

A more joyful and uplifting track is Link's hometown theme, "Faron Woods." The tune makes use of various soft sounds and stringed instruments to evoke an idyllic sense of security and peace for the player. The song also has a subtle reference to the franchise's most infamous scene, with a riff that is very like the iconic tune that plays at the start of Ocarina of Time.

Twilight Princess also has dynamic songs that change based on the player's location, what they do and what's happening. For instance the Hyrule Castle Town theme has various versions for each part of the town and Central Square being the most popular. Central Square having a more lively and full version of the tune. These variations are a great feature that adds an element of immersion and depth to the world of Hyrule.

Story

The story of Twilight Princess revolves around Link trying to prevent Hyrule from being sucked into the corrupted dimension known as the Twilight Realm. To accomplish this, Link adopts the form of an Hylian, the form of a Wolf and is aided by a woman called Midna.

Midna is the first ruler of the Twili however she was overthrown by Zant and cursed into her imp form. The Ancient Sages tell Link and Midna that only the defeat of Ganondorf will free them from their curse. The Sages reveal that the Mirror of Twilight causes the darkness to be present in the Twilight Realm. Midna and Link travel to the Spirit's Spring, where they encounter dangerous monsters who kidnap children. Wolf Link's keen ear helps them track the children's scent to a nearby bridge, and then cross over into the Twilight Realm.

They enter the Forest Temple and battle Diababa, obtaining the first Fused Shadow. After this, Faron informs them that the next stop is the Eldin Province to the west (Wii) or east (GCN).

At the Lakebed Temple in Lanayru, Midna teleports Link to a fiery rock and uses her powers to melt the ice that lies at the bottom of Lake Hylia. Rutela's spirit, the recently gone Zora queen appears to Link and informs him that he needs to visit the Lakebed Temple if he wants to gain access to the treasures of Zora.

Returning from slot demo starlight princess 1000 of Time and Majora's Mask, the horse Epona can again be riding in Twilight Princess. Link can choose the name of the horse, unlike the predetermined names in the previous games.

When they arrive in the Twilight Realm, Midna and Link take back the remaining Mirror Shards. In the Palace of Twilight, the Sages inform them that Midna is actually the real ruler of the Twili, but she had been ostracized by the monarchy, and then turned into a god to gain power. The Sages tell them that they will be defeated by Ganondorf when they bring him to light and break the pact between the Twilight kingdom and Hyrule kingdom.
