Twilight Princess Game Review

Twilight Princess is the darkest, most serious and serious Nintendo 3D Zelda game. It pushes graphical presentation on the Wii to its limits. It's darker and more threatening than The Wind Waker. There aren't any bug-eyed pigs nor effeminate Pirates.

Link is attracted to a parallel dimension referred to as Twilight Realm where he takes the form of a Hylian Wolf and a Hylian while being guided by Midna.

Gameplay

Twilight Princess is the thirteenth installment in The Legend of Zelda series. It was released for Nintendo GameCube and Wii systems in 2006. The game was praised by critics with perfect scores in various publications, including 1UP CVG EGM and GamesRadar. Many consider it to be the most enjoyable game in the series and the most viewed Zelda title on the PAL market.

Twilight princess features naturalistic and stylized graphics style that is similar to that of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask but with a more sophisticated graphic engine. Twilight princess is the first game in the series with an entirely directional motion control scheme, instead of a fixed viewpoint like previous games. This modification was made in order to work with the Wii console's touchscreen that is based on pointing. The GameCube version of the game has a section in the back that contains mirror-image maps for those who prefer the traditional fixed view.

Link transforms into a wolf once he enters the Twilight Realm. He also encounters Midna, an enigmatic creature. She reveals that the kingdom of Hyrule is being taken by a group of shadow beasts commanded by the evil sorcerer Zant. She also explains that she is the real ruler of Twili but was taken over by Zant and cursed to her current form.

A short cutscene shows soldiers being killed by shadow creatures when Link and Midna reach Hyrule Castle. Link and Midna then escape the castle through an escape tunnel that leads to the Twilight Realm.

Link can move more freely around the world in the Twilight Realm by using his Wolf form. Link can also use his senses to navigate through the world. For instance, he can sense the spirits of dead soldiers and other animals that are in the distance. Link can also pull grass from certain patches and whistle using it to summon an animal, for instance the Hawk or Epona. Alternatively, Link can howl near these patches to summon the same animal.

As with earlier Zelda games music plays a major role in Twilight Princess. Link can play instruments that are musical, such as the flute or the harp, to draw and call on different animals. demo slot starlight princess rupiah can also control the wolf's appearance using his voice. He can also use his compass as a guide to help him navigate through the world.

Characters

The Legend of Zelda is full of unique and colorful characters that will leave an impression that will last forever. From hands that come out of toilets to pirate sailors traveling across vast oceans these wacky and unique characters are the core of the game. Twilight Princess continues the tradition of previous games by introducing a wide range of memorable characters.

Link is introduced to new NPCs throughout the story, who are not only interesting but also credible. It is a huge step towards the right direction that many of these NPCs actually have a role in the story rather than just acting as victims. NPCs like Rusl who declares that the forest is becoming more dangerous now and kidnaps kids or the Ordon villager who disguises himself as a wolf when the children are being kidnapped all have distinct personalities.

Other notable characters include Iza who manages the Boat Rental Cabin in Lanayru Province and Iza's rapid ride, Louise Telma’s cat, who aids Wolf Link find a secret access point to the castle through her bar and sewer system, as well as Faron whose spirit helps guide Link to the Forest Temple in Eldin Province. The two team members defeat the Fused Shadow possessed by Diababa and receives the first Tear of Light.

Midna is the princess of the Twilight Realm and one of the most interesting characters in the game. She can switch between wolf and human forms and has a piece of the Triforce of Wisdom. She accosts Link and informs him of her adventures in the twilight and how she defeated Zant the King of Twilight.

Zant, who possesses the other part of the Triforce of Wisdom, is a wicked sorcerer, ruler of the Twilight Realm. He was banished to the Twilight Realm by the goddesses for taking over their land and depriving the people. Zant's magic enables him to remain in wolf form, but Midna removes the power and allows him to change into his human form whenever required.

The game also features an upgraded horse, called Epona that can be ridden in Hylian and wolf versions. Link can whistle near certain patches of grass to call the animal. (similar to Majora’s Mask). The player can name the horse which makes Twilight Princess the first time in the series where the player can personalize their own horse.

Theme

Music is one of the most important elements of any Zelda game and can make a world feel expansive, epic, and engrossing. However, Twilight Princess is criticized for its inconsistent and unreliable soundtrack that doesn't convey the emotional impact of certain moments. In contrast, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask are enthralling soundtracks that bloom at the right moment to create a sense of grandeur and eeriness.

Toru Minegishi and Asuka Ohta were responsible for the music and sound design in Twilight Princess, with Koji Kondo overseeing the series's composers for the first time since Wind Waker. The soundtrack for Twilight Princess is a bold departure from the standard approach to the franchise, with an approach that is minimalist in terms of music and arrangement. Most field and dungeon music begins with a single instrument that creates a mystical and atmospheric atmosphere for the player. For instance, the haunting music in Midna's Lament utilizes an ordinary piano to create a soaring feeling of sadness for the player.

The most popular examples are dungeon themes, that have a dark and sombre atmosphere. This style is evident in the Twilight Realm theme, which has a soundscape that would be appropriate for the soundtrack of a David Lynch film. The unsettling and ominous nature of this track is accentuated by the absence of identifiable melody and traditional arrangement, with dull drones and eerie patterns intertwining to create a dark and bleak sound.

A more joyful and uplifting song is Link's hometown, "Faron Woods." The song makes use of a variety of soft sounds and stringed instruments that create an idyllic feeling of peace and safety for the player. The song is subtle references to the most well-known scene in the franchise as it features an riff that is similar to the famous melody that plays at Ocarina of Time's start.

Twilight Princess also has dynamic songs that change depending on the player's location, the activity they're doing and what's happening. Hyrule Castle Town has different versions of the theme for each region of the town. Central Square, for instance, has a more raucous version. These variations are a nice addition that can help to create an element of immersion and depth to the world of Hyrule.

Story

Link's goal in Twilight Princess is to save Hyrule from the corrupted world known as the Twilight Realm. To accomplish this, Link assumes the forms of an Hylian, a Wolf and is assisted by a woman named Midna.

Midna was the first ruler of Twili but she was supplanted and cursed by Zant into her imp form. The Sages of the past explain to Link and Midna that only the defeat of Ganondorf will free them from their curse. The Sages reveal that the Mirror of Twilight is the source of the darkness in the Twilight Realm. Midna and Link travel to the Spirit's Spring, where they encounter monsters that are hostile and kidnap children. Wolf Link's keen ear assists them in tracking children's scent to a nearby bridge that they cross over into the Twilight Realm.

They enter the Forest Temple and battle Diababa, obtaining the first Fused Shadow. After that, Faron informs them that the next stop is the Eldin Province to the west (Wii) or east (GCN).

Midna at the Lakebed Temple of Lanayru teleports Link to a fiery stone and unleashes her power on the ice beneath Lake Hylia. Rutela's spirit who is the recently gone Zora queen appears to Link and tells him that he needs to visit the Lakebed Temple if he wants to unlock the treasure of the Zora.

Returning from Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, the horse Epona can be again ridden in Twilight Princess. Link can select the name of the horse, a change from the predetermined names in the previous games.

Midna and Link are able to recover the remaining Mirror Shards once they arrive in the Twilight Realm. The Sages inform Midna that she is the true ruler of the Twili. She was passed by the monarchy and had turned to the god of power. The Sages also inform them that the only way to defeat Ganondorf is to bring him into the light and break the pact between Twilight and Hyrule kingdoms.
