The Best Robot Vacuum For Carpet

There's a robot for all carpet types, regardless of whether it's high-pile or low-pile. These smart appliances navigate your home automatically, pick up debris and clean under furniture.

They come with advanced features such as mapping that helps them navigate through your home and help you remember the location of furniture. They also can increase suction power to tackle dirtier surfaces.

iRobot Roomba 694

The Roomba by iRobot is a basic robot vacuum that is effective on both bare flooring and low-pile floor carpet. It has good suction however, it struggles with larger debris like grains of rice or sand. It also does a decent job of removing pet hair, but it's not impervious to tangling as premium Roomba models, such as the I6 or j7.

The Roomba 694 is simple to use. It has three buttons on its cover: 'Clean' launches a cleaning cycle and 'Dock' allows it to be put back in its charging station and 'Spot Clean' activates a targeted clean. It is controlled by a smartphone app which lets you schedule or stop/start cycles, as well as alter settings. It can also be paired with smart home devices such as Alexa or Google Assistant for voice-controlled operation.

This vacuum is slower than others, but it's still able get into the most crevices and corners. It comes with a large bin that makes it easy to empty. It is compatible with digital mapping and virtual barriers which allow you to program the robot to stay out of certain areas or to stop cleaning altogether to avoid it from getting stuck.

Although it's not the top model in its price range but it's far superior to other options. The Roborock E4 is more advanced than the Roomba 694 with superior cleaning performance for carpets that are low and bare. It also has an efficient cleaning route and has a longer battery life. It also feels more durable and has fewer components that need regular maintenance, is less expensive to maintain over its life, and charges faster than the 694.

You should also consider other models within the iRobot range, such as the v7 and the 981. The v7 and 981 are more expensive, but have significant improvements in cleaning performance, for both bare and low pile floors. They also have a bigger dirt compartment they charge faster, can move more easily and are easier to pair up with smart home devices.

Shark RV1001AE IQ

This budget self-emptying robot does an okay job on hard floors and carpets with a low pile. Its combo brush reaches into corners and edges and it automatically boosts suction when it senses carpet. It also is effective in cleaning dirt that is embedded in carpets that are mid-pile. The IQ's small footprint for docks and its self-emptying feature are both nice features. However, if you wish to alter the floor level on the map or set no-go zones, you'll have to manually reset it to do this, which can be somewhat of an inconvenience.

The IQ's app comes with advanced mapping and automation features but it's missing no-go zones which are included on iRobot models. The smart-pathing technology permits for better maneuverability and the high-pile mode of its carpet cleaning mode is effective, although it can get caught in the tassels of the rug.

During our tests in our tests, the IQ was adept at handling pet hair effectively, clearing huge amounts of hair from bare floors and moderate amounts from medium-pile carpet. It was less effective with shag carpets, as it struggled to get at dirt and dust buried within the fibers. It was able to navigate the legs of chairs, small spaces and even the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. It was slower on floors that were not paved but it was able to recover speed and was more efficient than the other robots we have evaluated.

The IQ is a better option than the iRobot Roomba 694 for most applications. It has a bigger dust bin and lasts longer on charge and is capable of getting over obstacles. It also has a mopping attachment that can deal with sticky mess. On the other side, the iRobot is more durable and has fewer components that require replacement or maintenance, incurs lower recurring costs, and can create virtual no-go zones with its companion app. It can even resume a cleaning session from the point it started if it has run out of battery before finishing the job. cleaning solutions can also be controlled via voice commands, which is a big plus for many users.

Eufy 11S

The RoboVac 11S from Eufy isn't the most feature-rich robot vacuum around however it offers powerful cleaning capabilities at a low price. This vacuum was designed for budget-conscious consumers who don't require a complicated mapping system, or an app to control it. This robot can run for a long time and includes a remote, cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base and extra filters.

The 11S is slim and sleek and has a tempered-glass upper deck that resembles polished aluminum. It's a nice aesthetic departure from Roomba, Samsung, and Neato designs that are more utilitarian and industrial.

In our tests, the eufy 11S was excellent at picking up larger particles and fine dust on hard flooring. It struggled to deep clean medium and high-pile carpets. The device also has a tendency to smack into furniture and people in its path, but it's able to detect those obstacles using sensors. It stops and emits a loud sound when it comes across an obstacle. You can then manually guide the device around it to return it to working.

The BoostIQ mode is a great feature of the eufy11S. It lets you configure the robot to automatically adjust the suction strength based on the type of floor and the level of the mess. The remote control makes it easy to direct the 11S to your desired location.

If you don't have many furniture in the room you want to vacuum Single Room Mode is an excellent option. The eufy is capable of spending up to 30 minutes cleaning the space it is assigned.

You can also opt for Edge Cleaning which reduces the amount of time in each area to 20 minutes for maximum battery life. This option allows the eufy to move in a spiraling pattern by cleaning edges and corners.

Miele Complete C1

The Miele Complete C1 canister robot is a top mid-priced vacuum cleaner that excels on carpet. Its performance is also excellent on floors that are not bare. It can pick up small particles like rice effortlessly and doesn't lose suction performance even as its dirt bin gets full. Its air-sealed and allergy-friendly design capture allergens, keeping your family healthy. It has an onboard HEPA filter and a self-emptying dustbin, which means you don't have to buy additional filters or a separate bag for your vacuum.

It's not as powerful as pricier models, but it's still excellent for dealing with stains and deep cleaning. Its two front cameras deliver live feeds of images on your smartphone, and it has one of the top obstacle avoidance systems we've seen. It has a large bin, an extended runtime and an easy, bump-free clean-up.

The Complete C1 is unlike most robots in that it can switch between two heads, a standard and a turbo to suit different types of flooring. The turbo head is ideal for carpeting that is high-pile and low-pile and the standard powerhead works well on bare floors and lightweight carpets. It also features an automatic height adjustment system that allows it to adapt to various types of flooring without manual adjustments.

This model comes with a SBD 285-3 Classic Combination Floorhead that can handle both hard floors and medium-pile carpeting. The motor can also be easily moved around and reach difficult spots. It comes with five levels of surface adjustments and a brushroll off switch to help prevent tangled hairs.

The Classic C1 also has a self-cleaning brush roll and an UtraClean mode that goes back and forth over the same area three times for the best possible clean and a self-emptying bin that can be empty at the push of the button. The noise level of this model is greater than other models. However, its powerful motor with 1,200 watts and robust construction make it worth the extra cost.

If you're willing to spend a little more it's worth it. Miele Complete C3 is an excellent all-round robot vacuum that performs better on carpet than the Classic C1. It performs better on all floor types and is more solidly constructed, and includes a HEPA filter.
