Best Robot Vacuums and Mop Combos

A robot vacuum is the ideal tool for maintaining a clean home. It will nab dust, pet hair, and other debris from the surface before it causes a bigger problem.

Some robots are able to sync with smart assistants such as Alexa or Google Assistant to provide a hands-free experience. Look for models that can recharge and resume cleaning where they left off.

1. iRobot s8

This smart robot vacuum and mop combination is a great option for a wide range of homes. It is able to vacuum and mop well, has excellent navigation with both GPS and laser sensors and comes with a variety of controls and features accessible via the app. It also has a handy feature which allows you to create Cleaning zones in areas that require more attention, as well as Keep Out zones in areas you don't wish it to go. It also receives software updates, just like the other Roomba products, that make it better over time.

It's costly however, it's also one of the most advanced robot vacuums that ZDNet has tested. It has a powerful battery that can sweep all of your home in less than two hours. It can also switch between vacuuming and mopping at the push of one button. And, unlike other self-emptying robots that require you to empty the trash bin after each run, it automatically empties into the larger waste container that is above its charging dock.

It also comes with a variety of other features, including intelligent obstacle avoidance, which utilizes a camera along with processor-powered smarts to identify obstacles. It is rarely derailed or stuck during a cleaning process. In my tests it was the best in avoiding objects such as power cables. However, it's not as accurate in detecting pet waste and other dangers.

2. Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8

Eufy is owned by Anker It has become an iconic name in the world of robots that are budget-friendly vacuums. But it didn't offer a model that could also mop. The X8 Hybrid is a new model that has a wide range of advanced features, and can compete with more expensive models.

The laser navigation system is the primary selling point of this machine. The X8 utilizes laser mapping technology that is more precise than previous Eufy devices. It also takes significantly less time to create a comprehensive picture of your space and stores multiple maps, which is ideal for homes with multiple floors.

The X8 is a decent vacuum cleaner for floors that are clean. It can easily sling debris under the side brushes and into its 400ml dust bin. The Tyres of the X8, despite their circular shape, are good in grabbing corners and edges. Our tests showed that it could only remove 90 percent of the fur on hard floors.

The basic mopping mode uses the same reservoir of water as the vacuuming mode. This is great for spills that are not serious, but you cannot limit the amount of water it uses. It does, however, do an admirable job of picking up pet hair, with a higher pickup rate than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is renowned for its quiet, effective appliances. It has a beautiful design, superb navigation, and excellent cleaning power. But it has a few operational oddities that prevent it from being ranked as the best overall smart robot vacuum.

The RX2 is equipped with a dual-sensor mapping system that uses a LIDAR to map the space as well as a pair of 3D scanning cameras for detecting and avoiding obstacles (such as furniture legs or pet waste). Once the room is mapped the app allows you to designate virtual no-go zones and preferred areas that the robot will automatically clean. You can also change the cleaning modes, start an automatic clean, or view live feeds of the onboard cameras from the main screen.

The RX2's sensors work well, registering furniture and other obstructions in real-time. The suction and sweeping abilities are exceptional, taking away surface debris from medium pile carpeting and also removing dust that has been deposited on floors. It's not the fastest robotics available. Like many others it's not a great climber and has trouble with things like thresholds made of metal transition strips.

Many people purchase robot vacuums for the convenience of setting up a schedule in an app, and then forgetting about them for weeks. However, it's essential that a robot can accomplish the task and that's the reason our ZDNet staff tested and reviewed several of the most popular models to help you choose the right one for your home.

4. Shark ION

This budget-friendly robovac looks just like your typical robot but it's an upgrade in performance and features. Its smart mapping system creates 3D and 2-D maps of your house and uses to navigate and stay clear of obstructions. It's even able to spot common obstacles like power cords and furniture legs in real time. This combination of sensors, along with a bump sensor and an infrared drop sensor that keeps it away from the stairs is what makes it one of the most flexible vacs we've tried.

It was able to climb over the thick shag carpets and was not stuck (unlike the RoboVac 11s, or Roomba 690-). Its navigation skills were impressive as well; its composite score in carpet and bare floors was better than the competition, and it picked up 98.5 percent of the surface litter and embedded pet hair from our laboratory test samples.

The controls are more basic than the competition's. There's a cleaning button at the top, and you can either start it using the app or via voice commands with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also set a schedule for daily or weekly cleans, set areas that are not allowed to be cleaned, and check its history of cleaning. In a smart dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and looks stylish in your home. The dust bin on the rear is easily accessible to empty, and the removal of the filters is also simple.

5. Eufy 11S

If you're looking for a simple, no-frills robot vacuum at a reasonable cost, the Eufy11S could be a good choice. This model lacks some smart features such as Alexa integration and digital mapping found in more expensive models. However, if you do not need these features, you can save money.

This robot is easy to use and set up. It does not require a smartphone app or Wi-Fi connection, however it does come with an remote control that lets you select different modes and adjust the suction level. It also lets you manually send the robovac off on a scheduled cleaning.

In our tests, the 11S was very effective at removing pet hair and dirt from hard floors and carpets with a low pile. Its slim profile made it possible to fit under furniture with low hanging and other objects that heavier robots were unable to get at. It was also able to traverse door thresholds and move between floors and another.

Like other robots, the 11S will take in some objects such as cords, drawstrings for hoodies and cat toys. The manufacturer suggests that you can prevent this by keeping these objects off the floor and using an organizer for cords if you can. It also suggests that you regularly clean the dustbin, replace the filters and wash or change the brushes as necessary.

6. IRobot Roomba 980

The Roomba is iRobot’s flagship robot vacuum. It's expensive but it's the best robot vacuum you can purchase. Its self-navigation as well as environmental mapping are a joy to behold. It also comes with more advanced automation features than its competitors, including the ability to create virtual boundary markers with its mobile app. It's a capable robot vacuum, even if the app is a bit sluggish and the 980 spins out when it comes across cables.

One thing we really like about the 980 is that it makes use of its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors and its visual simultaneous mapping and localisation technology (or vSLAM) to memorise the floor plan of your home. It uses this information to create a consistent, efficient cleaning path through each cycle. The result is cleaner floors, and a cleaner vacuum than most competing high-end robot vacuums.

Other features of the 980 include dual multi-surface brushes which grab dirt on carpets and hard floors and an ejector brush that spins to sweep debris into the robotic vacuum's bin. The sensor for floor tracking helps it navigate through furniture, along edges and up steps. Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from falling. It will also return to the base station to allow for recharges between sessions. The bin capacity and the battery life of the 980 aren't as good as some other robot vacuums. However, it is a solid and reliable machine that can keep floors clean for a long time. hours.
