To explore this possibility, we employed a computational model for supragingival plaque to systematically sample combinations of sugar frequency and total amount, allowing their independent contributions on the ratio of aciduric (i.e. cariogenic) to non-aciduric bacteria to be unambiguously determined. Sugar frequency was found to be irrelevant for either very high or very low daily total amounts as the simulated biofilm was predicted to be always or never cariogenic, respectively. Frequency was a determining factor for intermediate total amounts of sugar, including the estimated average human aciduric/non-aciduric species) was predicted for high intake frequencies. Thus, both total amount and frequency of sugar intake may combine to influence plaque cariogenicity.

These findings could be employed to support public guidance for dietary change, leading to improved oral healthcare. Conflict of interest statement: The authors declare that they have no competing Alpha-terpineol grafted acetylated lentinan as an anti-bacterial adhesion agent. Biomedical implants-associated bacterial infections have become a major threat to human health. Therefore, it is meaningful to develop new antibacterial strategies to solve this problem. In this study, we conjugated acetylated lentinan (AceLNT) with α-terpineol (AceLNT-g-α-ter), a highly effective natural antibacterial compound, to constitute a novel AceLNT-g-α-ter membrane of E. coli and P. aeruginosa in AceLNT-g-α-terM decreased by 80% and 85% after 7 aeruginosa biofilm on AceLNT-g-α-terM surface decreased by 70% and 71%.

At http://extension.unimagdalena.edu.co/extension/Lists/Contactenos/DispForm.aspx?ID=1006340 , α-terpineol grafting modification of AceLNT had limited effect on its stimulating activity on macrophages and had no more cytotoxicity. In summary, our study firstly confirmed that AceLNT-g-α-terM could effectively inhibit gram-negative bacteria adhesion and biofilm formation, and provided a novel strategy for preventing infection of biomedical implants. Interspecies dynamics among bacteria associated with canine periodontal disease. The etiology and pathogenic mechanisms associated with canine periodontal disease are less well understood than the disease in humans. In this study we have reconstructed defined consortia biofilms in vitro of microorganisms identified as prevalent in a same-breed cohort of dogs with or without periodontal disease. Frederiksenia canicola and Neisseria canis were selected as potential early colonizers of salivary pellicle, and Fusobacterium nucleatum and Porphyromonas gulae were included as high incidence canine oral bacteria. N.

canis formed a biofilm substratum under aerobic conditions, but was unable to tolerate anaerobic conditions. Fr. canicola exhibited synergistic biofilm growth with Po. gulae under anaerobic conditions, but displayed an antagonistic Fu. nucleatum and Po. gulae was able to overcome the inhibitory effects of anaerobic, asaccharolytic Gram-positive coccus found only under disease conditions in vivo, was able to form biofilms in conjunction with Fr. canicola increased several-fold upon the addition of Pa.

micra. This suggests that anaerobic cocci such as Pa. micra might provide a catalyst for progressive tissue destruction, inflammation and alveolar bone loss in canine periodontal disease, in keeping with the keystone-pathogen hypothesis. Effect of Holarrhena antidysentrica (Ha) and Andrographis paniculata (Ap) on the biofilm formation and cell membrane integrity of opportunistic pathogen 110062, India; Division of CBRN Defence, Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Increasing occurrence of gastroenteritis outbreaks caused by food borne opportunistic microorganisms has become a major problem in food industry as well as in immunocompromised host. Antimicrobial agents are losing their efficacy due to increase in the microbial resistance. For such reasons, conventional treatment has become limited to manage the infections state. Need of https://www.daoduytu.edu.vn/forum/links.php?url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colanic_acid is to instigate the search for safer holistic alternatives.

The present study was hence conducted to assess the antibiofilm effect and mode of action of aquo alcoholic extracts of Holarrhena antidysentrica (Ha) and Andrographis paniculata screened for the presence of phytocompounds followed by the characterization using Attenuated Total Reflection (ATR) infrared spectroscopy and bioactivity finger print analysis. Anti-biofilm assays were determined to test the potential of both extracts to inhibit the biofilm formation, while Propidium Iodide (PI) uptake analysis revealed that cell membrane was damaged by the exposure of nutraceuticals for 1 h.
