After two times of boosting at day 14 and 21, the antigen-specific antibody levels and the protective immunity against A baumannii challenge were evaluated. The results showed that the OmpK/Omp22 formulated with MF59 immunized mice produced much higher level of antigen-specific antibodies compared to mice immunized with OmpK/Omp22 alone (P < 01). Mice immunized with 30 μg of OmpK/Omp22 formulated with MF59 also provided more potent protection post-challenge, which showed lower bacterial loads in the blood and lung tissue, lower level of blood inflammatory cytokines and higher survival rate (83%) than mice immunized with OmpK/Omp22 alone (P < 001). In conclusion, this study demonstrated that OmpK/Omp22 fusion protein adjuvanted with MF59 induced superior immune response and better protection than OmpK/Omp22 alone through [Celiac disease and collagenous colitis: clinical and immunological study].de la Lande P, Dominguez S, Terris G, Balaton A, Mallet L.Origin and distribution of collagens in the developing avian cornea.

Hay ED, Linsenmayer TF, Trelstad RL, von der Mark K.4673. J Biol Chem. 1976 Nov 25;251(22):7137-43.Intracellular location of triple helix formation of collagen. Specialty medication of chick embryo fibroblasts were used to study ribosomal events in the processing of procollagen. Polyribosomes from radiolabeled cells were subjected to enzyme probe analysis using collagenase and pepsin digestion to assess both the amount of procollagen present on the polyribosomes and the conformation of the molecule.

The peptides rendered dialyzable by each enzyme treatment were analyzed for radioactive proline and hydroxyproline. Approximately 30% of the nascent proteins were collagenous. Although some hydroxyproline was dialyzable in the pepsin-treated material, a low ratio of hydroxyproline to proline (04) indicated that considerable amounts of noncollagenous proteins were digested. Polyribosomal material, previously treated with pepsin, was digested with purified collagenase. Similarly, collagenase-digested polyribosomes were treated with pepsin. benefits from collagen released noncollagenous protein and served to purify the remaining ribosomally bound pepsin-resistant collagenous protein. Collagenase treatment of the pepsin-resistant ribosomally bound peptides released peptides with a hydroxyproline to proline ratio of 05, indicating that considerable hydroxylation of proline occurs on nascent ribosomally bound procollagen.

This finding combined with the well documented stabilizing effect of hydroxyproline on the collagen triple helix and the demonstrated resistance of ribosomally bound procollagen to pepsin digestion indicates that the collagen triple helix 10016/j.ijbiomac017037. Epub 2017 Oct 10.Not only tendons: The other architecture of collagen fibrils. For many decades the fibrillar collagens have been the subject of a remarkable body of ultrastructural research. The vast majority of the studies, however, were carried out on tendon or on tendon-derived material. For many reasons this reflects an obvious choice but at the same time it also is an unfortunate circumstance, because this flooding of tendon-related data can easily encourage the false confidence that all connective tissues are similar.

The reality is quite the opposite, and a different fibrillar structure has been long time observed on collagen fibrils from different tissues, the most notable example being offered by corneal fibrils. The same architecture can be found in a number of disparate tissues and may actually be the prevalent one on a whole-body scale. Although these fibrils diverge from those of tendon in their architecture, size, D-period, composition, cross-linking and fibrillogenesis mechanism, their structure was the subject of rather sparse ultrastructural studies and even today their mere existence is often overlooked or ignored. This paper summarizes the main aspects of the structural biology of these forgotten Collagenous and elastic system fibres in the aorta of cattle poisoned by Solanum The proportions of fibres of the collagenous and elastic systems were measured in the aortas of three normal heifers and in nine heifers given the calcinogenic plant Solanum glaucophyllum for 15, 30 or 60 days. There were decreases in the amount of collagen relative to reticulin, and in the proportion of elastic fibres which were related to the period of dosing. These changes may have an adverse influence on the animals' cardiovascular function.Isometric tension developed during heating of collagenous tissues.
