Two protein bands were also observed in two-dimensional isoelectric focusing/sodium-dodecyl-sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis; the PI values of the two polypeptides were 6 and 6. Partial peptide mapping of the two isolated subunits, using both enzymatic and chemical cleavage techniques, yielded almost identical patterns which indicated a high degree of sequence homology between the two polypeptides. The N-terminal amino acid sequences of the two polypeptides were identical and did not exhibit any homology to reaction center subunits of purple sulfur bacteria. The Chloroflexus reaction center is believed to be composed of one molecule of each polypeptide, the photoactive bacteriochlorophyll a dimer and, as accessory pigments, an additional bacteriochlorophyll a and three bacteriopheophytins. Hence, it appears to be the smallest photochemically active Electron-accepting potential of solvents determines photolysis rates of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons: experimental and density functional theory School of Environmental Science and Technology, Dalian University of Technology, Photochemical behaviour of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) is strongly dependent on the physical and chemical nature of the media in/on which they exist. To understand the media effects, the photolysis of phenanthrene (PHE) and benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) in several solvents was investigated.

Buy now for PHE and BaP in the different solvents were observed. Some theoretical parameters reflecting the solvent properties were computed and employed to explain the solvent effects. Acetone competitively absorbed light with PHE and BaP, and the excited acetone molecules played different roles for the photodegradation of PHE and BaP. The photolysis rate constants of PHE and BaP in hexane, isopropanol, ethanol, methanol, acetonitrile and dichloromethane were observed to correlate with the electron-accepting potential of the solvent molecules. Absolute electronegativity of the solvents linearly correlated with the photolytic activity (log k) of the PAHs significantly. The results are important for better understanding the photodegradation mechanism of PAHs in 2010 Elsevier B.V.

One of these indexes is the para-delocalization index (PDI) that measures the electronic delocalization between para-related carbon atoms in six-membered rings. In this paper, we show that this index can be partitioned into individual molecular orbital contributions. We have applied this PDI decomposition to several polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons showing that this partitioning provides new insight into the origin of aromaticity.

Clip compression injury in the spinal cord: a correlative study of neurological Institutet, Huddinge University Hospital, Sweden.Rats subjected to experimental spinal cord compression of different degrees induced by aneurysm clips were neurologically tested 3 and 5 weeks postinjury. The development of spinal cord tissue destruction over time was similar to what has been described for other experimental spinal cord injuries with characteristics such as early edema, axonal swelling, and later necrosis. Three weeks after injury a reactive gliosis was found at the injury epicenter and regenerating axons could be identified in the otherwise necrotic cavity. The extent of degeneration was highly correlated with the closing force of the aneurysm clip. The results of a number of neurological tests were correlated to the degree of clip-induced compression, to lesion volume, and to the remaining area of white matter at the epicenter. The neurological tests with the highest correlation to morphological descriptors were beam walk (r(s) = 09-05) and motor performance score (r(s) = 08-02).

We conclude that the motor performance score, previously validated for photochemically induced ischemic spinal cord injuries, is equally suitable for clip compression injuries as a fast and reliable neurological test paradigm.Electrical Properties of Synthesized Large-Area MoS₂ Field-Effect Transistors Fabricated with Inkjet-Printed Contacts.National University , Seoul 08826, Korea.Berkeley, California 94720, United States.Berkeley, California 94720, United States. We report the electrical properties of synthesized large-area monolayer molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) field-effect transistors (FETs) with low-cost inkjet-printed Ag electrodes. The monolayer MoS2 film was grown by a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method, and the top-contact Ag source/drain electrodes (S/D) were deposited onto the films using a low-cost drop-on-demand inkjet-printing process without any masks and surface treatments.

The electrical characteristics of FETs were comparable to those fabricated by conventional deposition methods such as photo- or electron beam lithography.
