The Best Robot Vacuum For Carpet

Whether you've got low or high-pile carpet, there's a robot vacuum for you. These intelligent appliances can navigate your home, suck up debris and even clean under furniture.

Many have advanced features like mapping, which can help you navigate around your home and keep track of furniture positioning. They can also increase suction power to clean up areas.

iRobot Roomba 694"

The Roomba 694 from iRobot is a basic robot vacuum that performs well on both carpets with low pile and bare floors. It is able to suction well however, it struggles with larger debris like sand or grains of rice. It is capable of cleaning pet hair, but it is not as resistant to tangling as premium Roomba models such as the j7 and I6.

The Roomba 694 is easy to use. It has three buttons on the top cover. 'Clean,' which initiates a cleaning session, 'Dock,' which places it in its charging station, and 'Spot,' which activates the targeted cleaning. It is controlled by an app for smartphones which lets you program or stop/start cycles as well as adjust settings. You can also connect the device to smart home devices like Alexa or Google Assistant to control it through voice.

This vacuum cleaner is slower than some others, but it is able to reach most corners and crevices. It has a large bin that makes it easy to empty. It is compatible with digital mapping and virtual barriers which allow you to program the robot to stay out of certain areas or to stop cleaning altogether to prevent it from becoming stuck.

Although it's not the top model for its price, it's better than many other alternatives. The Roborock E4 is more advanced than the Roomba 694 with superior cleaning efficiency on both bare and low-pile carpets. It also follows a more efficient cleaning path and has longer battery life. It also feels more durable, has fewer parts that need regular maintenance, is less expensive to own over the course of its life, and charges faster than the 694.

It's also worth taking a look at other models that are more expensive in the iRobot line, like the 981 or the v7. The 981 and v7 are more expensive but have significant improvements in cleaning performance for both bare and low pile floors. They also have a larger dirt compartment and charge faster, move more easily, and are easier to pair up with smart home devices.

Shark RV1001AE IQ

This self-emptying robot that is budget-friendly does a decent job on hard floors as well as carpets with low pile. Its combo brush reaches into edges and corners, and it automatically increases suction when it detects carpet. It is also effective at cleaning dirt and debris that are embedded in mid-pile carpet. The IQ has a tiny footprint and a self-emptying function. However, if you want to change the floor levels on the map or create no-go zones you'll have to manually reset it in order to do this, which can be quite trouble.

The IQ's app comes with advanced mapping and automation features but it's missing no-go zones that are available on iRobot models. The smart-pathing system of the app allows for superior maneuverability, and the high-pile mode of its carpet cleaning mode is efficient, although it can get caught in rug tassels.

During our tests, we found that the IQ handled pet hair with ease. It was able to get rid of the majority of hair on bare floors, and a fair amount on medium-pile rug. It was less effective with shag carpets. It was unable to reach dirt and dust embedded within the fibers. It was able navigate chair legs, small spaces and even the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. It was a little slower on flooring that was not fully covered, but it recovered speed and did better than other robots we have test.

The IQ is a better option over the iRobot Roomba 694 for most applications. It has a bigger dustbin and a longer battery life, and is better at navigating around obstacles. It has mopping tools that are able to remove sticky debris. On the other hand, the iRobot feels better-built, has fewer parts that require maintenance or replacement and has lower recurring costs and creates virtual no-go zones through its companion app. It can even resume a cleaning session from where it left off if it runs out of battery before having completed the task. The iRobot can also be controlled via voice commands, which is a big plus for many users.

Eufy 11S

The eufy RoboVac 11S robot vacuum isn't among the most features-rich models, but it offers powerful cleaning power at affordable prices. This robot vacuum is designed for consumers with a tight budget who do not require a complicated mapping system, or even an app to control it. The robot is able to last for over an hour. It comes with the remote control, cleaning tool and AC power adapter.

The 11S is slim and sleek with an upper deck of tempered glass that covers plastic finished to look like brushed aluminum. It's a nice different from Roomba, Samsung, and Neato designs that are more industrial and utilitarian.

The eufy11S performed well in our tests of removing larger particles and fine dust from flooring. However, it was unable to give medium and high pile carpets a thorough clean. It is also prone to bump into furniture and people that are in its path however, it is able to detect those obstacles using sensors. It ceases and emits a loud sound when it encounters an obstruction. Then, you can manually steer the device around it and return it to working.

Another great aspect of the eufy 11S is its BoostIQ mode that allows you to set the robot to automatically adjust the strength of its suction to match the type of floor and the amount of the mess. The remote control makes it simple to direct the 11S to the desired area.

Single Room Mode is a great alternative if you have a small amount of furniture in the room you want to vacuum. The eufy will spend up to 30 minutes cleaning the space it is assigned.

Edge Cleaning is another option that can limit the time that is spent on each area to a maximum of 20 minutes. This will extend battery life. With this option, the eufy will move in a spiral to clean edges and corners for a thorough clean.

Miele Complete C1

The Miele Complete C1 canister robot is a top mid-priced vacuum cleaner that excels on carpet. Its performance is also great on bare floors. It can remove fine debris like rice easily and it doesn't suffer from suction efficiency even as its dirt bin gets full. Its design is a breathable one and its air-sealed body will trap allergens to keep your family healthy. It uses an onboard HEPA filter and a self-emptying bin, so you don't have to buy additional filters or a separate vacuum bag.

It's not as powerful as more expensive models, but it's ideal for fighting staining and deep cleaning. Its two front cameras deliver a live image feed on your smartphone, and it features one of the top obstacle avoidance systems we've seen. It also comes with a huge dustbin, a long running time and a quick and smooth clean-up.

The Complete C1 is unlike most robots because it can switch between the standard head and turbo head for various kinds of flooring. The turbo head is great for carpeting that is high-pile and low-pile, while the standard powerhead is great on bare floors and lightweight rug. It also features an automatic height adjustment system that allows it to adapt to different types of flooring without manual adjustments.

This model comes with the SBD 285-3 Classic Combination Floorhead, which can be used on carpets with a hard surface and carpets with a medium pile. The motor can also be easily maneuvered and can reach hard-to-reach areas. It comes with five different surface adjustments as well as a brushroll-off switch to prevent hairs getting caught in knots.

The Classic C1 has a self cleaning brush roll and it has a UtraClean Mode that will clean the same area up to three times, and a self emptying dustbin that you can empty with a single button press. Its sound level is a little higher than other models however its powerful 1,200-watt motor and robust construction make it worth the extra expense.

If you're willing to spend more it's worth it. Miele Complete C3 is an excellent all-around canister robot vacuum that is more effective on carpet than the Classic C1. It is better suited for any type of flooring, is more solidly constructed and comes with an HEPA filter.
