Best Robot Vacuums and Mop Combos

A robot vacuum is the ideal tool to maintain the cleanliness of your home. It can remove dust, pet hair, and other surface debris before it becomes a bigger problem.

Some robots are able to sync with smart assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant for a hands-free experience. Find models that are rechargeable and continue cleaning where they left off.

1. iRobot S8

This smart robot mop and vacuum is an excellent choice for many households. It has a great navigation system that incorporates GPS and laser sensors. It also comes with a lot of features and controls accessible via the app. It also has a handy feature that lets you create cleaning zones in areas that require additional attention, as well as Keep Out zones in areas you don't wish it to go. And, like all Roomba devices, it receives new software updates that make it even more efficient over time.

It's costly, but it's also one of the most advanced robot vacuums ZDNet has ever tested. It comes with a powerful battery that can clean a large area in less than two hours. Additionally, it can switch between mopping and vacuuming with the press of one button. And unlike other self-emptying robotics that require you to empty the bin after each run, this one automatically empties into a larger waste container above its charging dock.

It also has a number of other features, including intelligent obstacle avoidance which uses a camera along with processor-powered smarts in order to identify obstacles. It isn't often entangled or trapped during a cleaning process and is the best in avoiding power cables and other objects I've tested. It's not as precise in detecting pet waste, or other dangers.

2. Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8

While the Anker-owned Eufy has earned a name for itself in the field of low-cost robot vacuums, it's never offered an all-in-one model that can also mop. The X8 Hybrid is a new model that comes with a variety of features that are advanced and can compete with more expensive models.

The laser navigation is the primary selling point of this machine. Previous Eufy devices have constructed a rough map of your home by using infrared sensors and bumping into objects, but the X8's laser mapping system is much more accurate. It also takes significantly less time to create a comprehensive picture of your home and can store multiple maps, which is great for multi-floor homes.

The X8 is still a good vacuum on bare floors, slinging debris under its side brushes and into its 400ml dust bin with relative ease. The tyres are adept at hugging corners and edges even though they are circular. It's not the best cat litter scooper, however our tests have shown it can only remove about 90% of the fur from hard floors.

There's a mopping mode which uses the same water tank as the vacuuming. While this is great for spills that are not too large, you can't limit the amount of water it consumes and this will reduce its effectiveness for more severe staining. It's effective of removing pet hair. It has a higher percentage of hair removal than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is renowned for its quiet, powerful appliances. It is a stunning design, a great navigation system and an impressive cleaning power. It has a few oddities in its operation, which prevent it from being considered the top smart robot vacuum.

The RX2 comes with a dual-sensor mapping technique that makes use of LIDAR to map a room as well as a pair of 3D scanning cameras for detecting and staying clear of obstacles (such as furniture legs or pet waste). After the room has been defined and assigned, you can assign virtual no go areas and favorite sections to the robot. You can also alter the cleaning modes, start a manual clean or watch a live feed of the onboard cameras from the main screen.

The RX2's sensors work well by registering furniture and obstructions in real-time. Its sweeping and suction power are top-of-the-line and cleans up surface debris from carpets of medium pile and dust on floors with no floor. However, it's not exactly the most efficient robot available. It's not the best climber and has issues with metal threshold transition strips.

Many people purchase robot vacuums for the convenience of setting up a schedule on an app, only to forget about them for weeks. It's crucial that a robot is capable of the task and that's why our ZDNet staff has tested and examined some of the most popular models in order to help you choose the best one for your home.

4. Shark ION

This budget robovac is a robot that looks just like the other, but it has several more features and better performance. Its smart mapping system generates 3D and 2-D maps of your home and uses them to navigate and avoid obstacles. It can even detect common obstacles such as furniture legs and power cords in real-time. This combination of sensors along with a bump detector and an infrared sensor that keeps the vacuum from stepping on stairs makes it one of our most agile vacuums.

In our tests, it easily moved over large shag rug and didn't end up stuck on them (like the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690). Its navigation abilities were also impressive. Its composite score for carpet and bare flooring was higher than the competition, and it was able to pick up 98.5 percent of pet hair from our laboratory test samples.

Its controls are a bit more basic than those of the competitors. There's an uniform cleaning button on the top, and you can start it from the app, or by voice commands with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also set up a schedule for your daily or weekly cleans, create no-go zones, and see its cleaning history. Covered in stylish dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and looks attractive in your home. Its rear dust bin is accessible for emptying and cleaning the filter is the same.

5. Eufy 11S

If you're looking for a simple robotic vacuum that is simple and has no frills at a reasonable cost, the Eufy11S could be a good choice. This model lacks some smart features like Alexa integration and digital mapping found in higher-end models. However, if you don't require these features, you can save money.

The robot is easy to install and use. It does not require a smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing. However it does come with an remote control that lets you choose between different modes and alter the suction level. It also allows you to manually take the robovac off during scheduled cleaning.

In our tests during our tests, the 11S was extremely efficient in removing dirt and pet hair from hard floors and in low-pile carpets. Its slim profile made it possible to get under low-hanging furniture and other items that heavier robots were unable to get at. It was able to get easily over thresholds of doors and move between floors of different types to another.

Like other robots, the 11S will be able to suck up objects such as cords, drawstrings for hoodies, and cat toys. The manufacturer suggests that you can avoid this by keeping these objects off the floor and by using the possibility of a cord organizer. It also suggests that you periodically clean the dustbin, replace the filters and wash or change the brushes when needed.

iRobot Roomba 990

The Roomba 980 is iRobot's flagship robot vacuum. It's expensive but it's the best robot vacuum you can buy. Its self-navigation feature and environmental mapping is a marvel to behold. It has more advanced automation than most of its rivals, for instance the capability to set up virtual boundary markers through its mobile application. Although its app is a little sluggish and the 980 may spin out a bit when crossing cables, it's still a very capable robot vacuum.

One thing we love about the 980 is the fact that it utilizes its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors and its visual simultaneous localisation and mapping technology (or vSLAM) to remember the floor plan of your home. It then uses that information to create a consistent and efficient cleaning path for every cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a more efficient vacuum than most competing high-end robot vacuums.

Other features of the 980 include dual multi-surface brushes that grab dirt from floors and carpets and an ejector brush that spins to sweep debris into the robotic vacuum's bin. Its floor tracking sensors aid it navigate across furniture and along edges, while Cliff Detect helps to prevent the Roomba from falling down the stairs. It will automatically return to its base station for hassle-free recharges between sessions. Although the 980's battery lifespan and bin size aren't as efficient as other robot vacuums it's a solid and reliable machine that will keep your floors spotless for hours and hours.
