This medicine contains dihydrocodeine which is a strong painkiller and also has sedative effects. It is used to treat moderate-to-severe types of pain. It can also be used to relieve coughing, if needed. It is important to take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. If you are not sure how to do this, ask your doctor or pharmacist for help. Take your medicine at the same time each day. This will ensure that you get the most benefit from it. Use a medicine measure (cup or syringe) to make sure you get the right dose. Do not drive or operate machinery if this medicine makes you feel dizzy or sleepy. It is a crime to drive while affected.

This medication is not recommended for use by children under 18 years of age. Some children are more sensitive to medicines containing dihydrocodeine and may have very serious (rarely fatal) breathing problems like slow or shallow breathing. This medication should not be used during pregnancy or by breastfeeding women. It can cause severe (possibly fatal) withdrawal symptoms in newborn babies of mothers who have used it for a long time during pregnancy. It may also harm unborn babies if used for a long time near the expected delivery date.

Your doctor will discuss the benefits and risks of taking this medicine with you before you start treatment. Tell dihydrocodeine 30mg pil if you have any other medical conditions, such as lung or liver disease, or if you are taking any other medicines, including any that you have bought without a prescription from a pharmacy or supermarket. This includes vitamins, herbal preparations and other over-the-counter medicines. It can cause a dangerous reaction when mixed with some other medicines, such as those to treat high blood pressure, antidepressants and heart or blood vessels problems. It can also cause a severe allergic reaction in some people.

You should tell your doctor if you are planning to have any surgery, or are already pregnant, or are breastfeeding. This is because dihydrocodeine can pass into breast milk and may harm your baby. You should not use this medicine during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless your doctor has told you to. It can reduce your ability to react quickly and may make you more likely to get dizzy or faint when you stand up or change position.

This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. Your doctor or pharmacist will advise you of any other possible side effects.
