Monash University is one of the highly reputed higher institution of learning in Australia. It offers wide varieties of courses including engineering of different disciplines. As at the time of this post, the institution offered ten (10) varieties of single Bachelor of Engineering disciplines, very many double degree engineering programmes and dozens of minor.

Engineering is an important profession in this modern time because many of the advancement and technological breakthrough we see around us today are as a result of engineering breakthrough.

If you are interested in studying a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) course at Monash University, below are listed the four (4) pathways for students to achieve their aim.

1. Monash College Diploma

The Monash College diploma is designed to offer a pathway for students whose their high school result do not qualify them to process direct entry admission for an engineering course.

The Monash University diploma, on successful completion, opens the door for students to the second year of the Bachelor of Engineering degree and so, if you didn’t meet the requirements for direct entry into any of the Monash Engineering, this program could be the ideal pathway. It covers all the ten taught undergraduate engineering courses.

One thing about the program is that the admission of the participants is guarantee once the required scores are obtained. To many students, whether domestic or international and regardless of their background the diploma program is seen as a bridge between high school and university because it make transition simple and smooth.

The curriculum of the Monash University diploma is design in such a way as to ensure students can meet the rigour and challenges of an engineering degree when get admitted.

As tertiarycampus.blogspot.com as this program seem to be, the entry requirements for it are set higher than other bridging courses, though lower than for the direct entry engineering requirements. Remember the program is meant to favour students whose high school results did not qualify them entry to study undergraduate engineering course not to miss out.



2. Course or Institution Transfer

An Australian student could also study an engineering course at Monash University through course transfer or a transfer from other university institution within Australia.

For a student to be eligible for a course transfer he must meet all of the following criteria:

Must completed the predetermined minimum number of bachelor level credit points

Must be a current student who will be continuing their program of study and must attained minimum of 24 credit points left to complete.

Must met the other requirements for the course to which to transfer

Must make full academic history available for they will be taken into consideration for admission.



3. Single units of study – Monash (non-award)

Satisfactory completion of at least two units at university level can satisfy the minimum requirements for entry. However, to be considered for entry into engineering you'll need to complete at least eight university level subjects covering pre-requisite requirements and aim for an overall minimum average as outlined on the faculty's transfer webpage. Meeting the minimum average does not guarantee a place in the course.

Prerequisite single units

MTH1010 Functions and their applications (equivalent to VCE Units 3 & 4 Maths Methods) or ENG1090 Foundation Maths (equivalent to VCE Units 3 & 4 Specialist Maths)

PHS1001 Foundation physics (equivalent to VCE Units 3 & 4 Physics).

English - Completion of an ‘English rich’ unit may also be required in order to meet English Language requirements.

Single units incur full-fees as single units of study are not eligible for HECS-Help. Relevant single units of study may also be available for study at another university (full-fee paying).

4. Open Universities Australia (OUA)

OUA offers online studies in a range of disciplines with suitable prerequisite subjects in math, physics, chemistry and English. You'll need to:



Have completed the specified minimum number of bachelor level credit points

Have met the prerequisites for the course to which you wish to transfer. Information on how to meet our maths, physics and chemistry prerequisites is available online. English can be met via successful completion of PHIX1037 Critical Thinking.

Have met the minimum average required to be considered for transfer (consideration does not guarantee an offer).

5. Associate degree

A student seeking to study an engineering course at Monash University could also first earn an associate degree and to be eligible for admission to the single Bachelor of Engineering (BE) Hons. such student must meet the following criteria:

Must have completed a two year associate degree in an engineering program from a recognize Australian university.

Must have at least 80% average across the completed associate degree. Meeting this requirements does not guarantee an offer

Must have met the prerequisites for the course.
