How to Replace a Kia Sportage Replacement Key

For a variety of Kia models, the key contains a built-in keyless entry system. The key functions like an remote control and is exchangeable by a Kia dealer.

Key fobs can fail to function due to a number of reasons, such as batteries that are dead, worn-out buttons signal interference, or water damage. Here are some guidelines on how to get your Kia Sportage replacement key back to working.

How to replace a remote key or smartkey

The battery in your Kia's intelligent key will eventually need be replaced, regardless of whether it's a remote that starts with a push button or a normal metal key that doesn't contain transponder. This is particularly true if the car displays a message that the remote or smart key has low battery power.

This is a relatively easy procedure. To replace the key fob battery take the mechanical key from the slit on the back of the key fob. You then need to pry open the cover.
