Best Robot Vacuums and Mop Combos

The best method to keep your home clean is to use a robotic vacuum. It will remove dust, pet hair, and other particles from the floor before it becomes a bigger problem.

Some robots are able to sync with smart assistants such as Alexa or Google Assistant to provide a hands-free experience. Find models that can be recharged and continue cleaning where they left off.

1. iRobot s8

This smart robot vacuum and mop combination is an excellent choice for many homes. It has a great navigation system with GPS and laser sensors. It also comes with numerous features and controls accessible via the app. It also has a handy feature which allows you to create cleaning zones in areas that require more attention, as well as Keep Out zones in areas that you do not want it to go. It also gets software updates, just like all Roomba products, which enhance it over time.

It's expensive but is also one of the most advanced robot vacuums ZDNet has ever tested. It's equipped with a powerful battery that can clean a large area in less than two hours. It can switch between mopping and vacuuming with the press of one button. It automatically emptys the trash bin that is above its charging station, unlike other self-emptying robots that require you to empty the bin after every run.

It also comes with a variety of other features, such as intelligent obstacle avoidance, which utilizes cameras in conjunction with processor-powered smarts to identify obstacles. It isn't often entangled or trapped during cleaning, and it's the best at avoiding power cables as well as other objects in my tests. It's not as precise in detecting pet waste, or other dangers.

2. Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8

While Anker-owned Eufy has made its name in the field of low-cost robot vacuums, it's never offered an all-in-one model that can also mop. The X8 Hybrid is a new model that offers a range of modern features and can compete with more expensive models.

The laser navigation is the main selling point of this machine. The X8 uses laser mapping technology that is more accurate than the previous Eufy devices. It takes less time to build an extensive map of your home and can store multiple maps. This is perfect for homes with multiple floors.

The X8 is still a good vacuum on bare floors and can sling debris over its side brushes and into the 400ml dust bin with relative ease. The X8's tyres, despite their circular shape, are good in grabbing corners and edges. It's not a great kitty litter picker, though, with our tests showing it only removes about 90 percent of the fur off hard floors.

There's vacuum and mop in 1 mopping mode which uses the same water tank as the vacuuming one. While this is good for spills that are not too large however, you aren't able to regulate the amount of water it uses which can limit its effectiveness for more severe staining. It's effective of removing hair from pets. It has a higher rate of pick-up than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is known for its quiet, efficient appliances. It features a stunning design, excellent navigation, and excellent cleaning power. It has a few oddities in its operation that prevent it from being considered the best smart robot vacuum.

The RX2 is equipped with a dual-sensor mapping technique which uses LIDAR to map a room, and a pair 3D scanning cameras for detecting and staying clear of obstacles (such as furniture legs or pet waste). Once the room is mapped, the app lets you assign virtual no-go areas and favorite sections that the robot will automatically clean. You can also start an automatic clean or manually change the cleaning mode, watch live feeds from the onboard cameras and more from the main screen.

The RX2's sensors are effective, registering furniture and other obstructions in real-time. The suction and sweeping abilities are exceptional, taking away surface debris from carpets with medium pile as well as embedded dust on bare floors. However, it's not the most agile robot on the market. It's not the best climber, and it has problems with transition strips made of steel.

Many people purchase a robot vacuum for the hands-off convenience of setting a schedule on an app and not thinking about it for weeks at a time. It's crucial that a machine can get the job done and that's the reason why our ZDNet staff looked over and tested a number of the most well-known models to help you choose the perfect one for your home.

4. Shark ION

This budget robovac that looks like any other, but it has several more features and better performance. Its smart mapping system creates 3D and 2D maps of your home and uses those to navigate and avoid obstacles. It's also able to detect common obstacles such as furniture legs and power cords in real-time. This combination of sensors, along with a bump sensor, and an infrared sensor for dropping that keeps it off the stairs make it one of the fastest vacs we've tried.

In our tests, it was able to climbed over thick shag rugs and didn't get stuck on them (like the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690). Its navigational skills were also impressive as its score for composite tests on carpet and bare floors topped the competition, and it picked up 98.5 percent of surface litter and embedded pet hair from our laboratory test samples.

The controls are more basic than those of the competition's. There is a cleaning button at the top, and you can choose to start it using the app or voice commands with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule daily or weekly cleanings, create no-go zones and check its history of cleaning. Covered in stylish dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and looks attractive in your home. The dust bin on the rear is accessible for emptying and removing the filter just as simple.

5. Eufy 11S

Eufy 11S is a great option for those looking for a robot vacuum that's simple and doesn't have any frills at a low cost. It doesn't have many of the smart features, such as digital mapping and Alexa integration, which are found in higher-end models, but if you're not looking for these features, you can save a little money by purchasing this model.

The robot is simple to set up and use. It does not require a smartphone application or Wi-Fi connection, however it does come with the ability to control the remote with a remote that lets you choose between different modes and alter the suction level. You can also set the robotvac to an cleaning schedule.

In our tests, we found that the 11S was extremely efficient at removing pet fur and dirt from carpets with low pile and hard floors. Its slim profile made it easier to reach under furniture and other low items that more bulkier robots were unable to reach. It was able to go easily over thresholds of doors and switch from one type of floor to another.

Like other robots, the 11S can be able to suck up objects such as cords, drawstrings on hoodies, and cat toys. The manufacturer states that you can avoid this by keeping such objects off the floor and by using a cord organizer if possible. It also recommends that you periodically clean the dustbin, change the filters, and wash or change the brushes when necessary.

6. IRobot Roomba 980

The Roomba is iRobot’s flagship robot vacuum. It's pricey but it's a top performer and, in some ways, the most advanced robot vacuum available. Its self-navigation feature and environmental mapping is something to behold. It has more advanced automation than the majority of its competitors, such as the ability to set up virtual boundary markers using its mobile app. Although its app isn't the most responsive and the 980 can spin a bit when crossing cables, it's still a very capable robot vacuum.

We love the 980 due to its iAdapt2.0 navigation sensors as well as visual simultaneity localisation and mapping (or vSLAM), to memorise the floor plan of your home. It will use this data to create a consistent and efficient cleaning path in every cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a more efficient vacuum cleaner than the majority of high-end robots.

Other features include two multi-surface rubber brushes which grab dirt from hard floors and carpet, along with the spinning brush that sweeps debris into the bin of the robotic vacuum. The sensor for floor tracking helps it navigate between furniture, along edges and up stairs. Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from falling. And it automatically returns to its base station for hassle-free recharging between sessions. The bin capacity and battery life of the 980 aren't as impressive as those of other robot vacuums. However, it is an extremely reliable and sturdy machine that will keep floors clean for a long time. hours.
