A batik is a hand-dyed fabric that has been made using different layers of color. batik 77 creates the appearance of a painting or stained glass window. It also gives a unique texture that resists ink. To create a batik effect in your cards, rub an Embossing Buddy over your white cardstock and then stamp your desired images with embossing ink. Bolder images work best for this technique. Next, sprinkle your chosen embossing powder over the stamped image and heat with your heat tool. The heat helps the powder to melt and soak into the paper for a more realistic batik look. To add further dimension, choose a few solid stamps to build your scene or design and then sponge ink over the embossed image. Be sure to dry your panel completely between each application of color. Repeat this process until you are happy with your finished scene.
