Many of them have advanced features, such as mapping, which allows them to navigate your home and remember furniture place. They can also boost suction power to tackle dirtier areas.

iRobot Roomba 694"

The Roomba by iRobot is a basic robot vacuum that works well on both bare flooring and low-pile floor carpet. It has a good suction and is able to clean all kinds of debris, but it struggles with larger debris like sand or rice. It is effective in cleaning pet hair, but is not as resistant to tangling as the premium Roomba models like the I6 and j7.

The Roomba is easy to operate. It has three buttons on its cover: 'Clean' launches a cleaning cycle and 'Dock' allows it to be put back in its charging station, and 'Spot Clean' triggers an targeted clean. It can be controlled via an app on your smartphone that allows you to program or stop/start cycles and also adjust settings. It is also possible to pair the device with smart home devices such as Alexa or Google Assistant to control it via voice.

This vacuum cleaner is slower than other models, but it can reach most corners and crevices. It comes with a large bin, which makes it easier to empty. It is compatible with digital mapping and virtual barriers which allow you to set the robot to avoid certain areas or to stop cleaning altogether to prevent it from getting stuck.

Although it's not the top model in its price range but it's far superior to other alternatives. The Roborock E4 is more advanced than the Roomba 694, with a much better cleaning efficiency on carpets with low and no pile. It also follows the most efficient cleaning method and has a longer battery life. It is also more durable, has fewer components that require regular maintenance, costs less over its lifetime and charges faster than 694.

It is also worth considering other models in the iRobot range, including the v7 or 981. The v7 and 981 are more expensive, but provide significant improvements in cleaning performance both on bare and low pile floors. They also have a larger dirt compartment, charge faster, move more easily, and are easier to pair with smart home devices.

Its combo brush reaches into corners and edges, and it automatically increases suction when it detects carpet. It also does a great job of cleaning dirt from mid-pile carpet. The IQ has a tiny footprint and has a self-emptying feature. If you wish to alter the floor levels or set areas that are not allowed to be used, you'll need to manually reset the map.

The IQ's application has advanced mapping and automation features however it doesn't have no-go zones that are available on iRobot models. Its smart-pathing navigational system gives you greater maneuverability and its high-pile carpet cleaning mode cleans well, but it is prone to get caught up on rug tassels. Additionally, its iHome speaker lets you operate the robot by voice commands.

During our tests, we found that the IQ handled pet hair with ease. It was able to eliminate a large amount of debris on bare floors and a good amount of medium-pile rug. It was less effective with shag carpets, as it was unable to reach dirt and dust embedded within the fibers. It did a good job of navigating chair legs, tight spaces, and the bottom of an wooden IKEA step stool. It was slower on bare flooring however, it was able to recover speed and did better than other robots we have evaluated.

The IQ is a better option for the majority of users than the iRobot Roomba. It has a bigger dust bin and lasts longer on charge and is capable of maneuvering itself over obstacles. It has a mopping tool that can clean up sticky mess. On the other side the iRobot is more durable and has fewer components that require maintenance or replacement and incurs lower costs for recurring maintenance and can even create virtual no-go zones using its companion app. It can even restart a cleaning session from the point it started if it runs out of battery before it has completed the task. The iRobot can be controlled by voice commands, which is a huge plus for many users.
