Studio Tokek is the work of Dutch designer Esther Elzinga, whose prints, images and patterns are hand-printed using the stamp method. tokekwin comes from the Javanese word for the Tokay Gecko, a small reptile that's beloved or hated in most places due to its entertaining vocalizations and the mistaken belief that it will tear your skin off.

Edwin plays up this fetishization of virility to the point of absurdity—a tank of phallic sea mollusks pops up in a cafe—and, although Ajo enjoys playing guitar and seems to find a gentler sensuality with his wife, he's compelled back toward conventional masculine aggression when the threat of violence resurfaces.
